A kind woman gave him a Bible and his new journey began as he learned to read and connect with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Robert remarried Peggy Sue Owens and they had 1 daughter together, Dawn Michelle (Vandagriff) Tooke. They were later divorced in Houston, Texas.  He worked many jobs as he was multi skilled. Robert worked as a mixer for a ceramic tile plant (1955-1956) in Dallas. He had done construction, at production plants ect. He owned and ran a gaming recreation type center in Irving, Texas when his children were young.  Robert then moved from North Carolina to Cransfill Gap, Texas and worked at Clifton Molding and then for Brookshires as a sacker and stocker. He was very close to his cousins, Margaret Warren and Virginia Wright (both deceased), Charles, Betty, Beatrice and Barbara, whom all loved him very much.
