Ronald Wilcox Obituary

Ronald Wilcox, age 80, of Whitney passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019, in Waco. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2019, at the First Church of The Nazarene in Whitney. The Rev. Greg Johnson will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.

Ronald was born on October 29, 1939, in East St. Clair, Illinois to Eagen Murphy and Leota Pearl (Roe) Wilcox. Ron graduated from Cahokia High School in 1958 and from Southern Illinois University in 1962 with a degree in Forestry.  On September 16, 1960, he married Sue Belcher in Mulberry Grove, Illinois. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming, retiring in 1995. Ronald came to Whitney after retiring and continued to serve as a volunteer at the Whitney State Park and later traveled to many state parks as Camp Host.

Ronald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful story teller, had a great sense of humor, and was a very generous man. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a faithful member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Whitney.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Eagen Murphy and Leota Pearl Wilcox and sister, Dianna Lee Wilcox.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sue Wilcox; children, Julie Mattson and husband, Kevin, Steven Wilcox and wife, Teresa, and Mary Feagler and husband, Scott; brother, Randy Wilcox and wife, Nancy; sister, Dee Fisher and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Kelsey Smith, Heather Wilcox, Danni Hanzlik, Sean Feagler, and Ashley Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Braxton Feagler and Charlee Hanzlik; and numerous nieces and nephews.
