Ronnie Adams Obituary

This world has lost a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, dear friend, and a true cowboy.  Early Saturday morning, February 29, 2020, Ronnie Emil Adams, 75, of Aquilla, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel  in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating.  Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the funeral home.

Ronnie was born September 16, 1944, in Waco, to Emil and Wanda (Gilmore) Adams.  At the age of 16, he started working as a bundle boy at Clifton Manufacturing.  A short time later, he was trained as a sewing machine mechanic which he would continue doing for many years.  He was employed at JM Woods, Bailey Corporation, Waco Apparel, and Wolf Manufacturing, and retired from Spenco Medical Corporation in 2013.  Following retirement, Ronnie worked part time at Latham Springs Camp mowing grass, which he dearly loved doing.

He was baptized and confirmed on February 10, 1974, at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone.  Shortly thereafter, in the very same church, Ronnie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Retha Kelm.  For the next 45½ years they built many, many memories together, and their love would grow stronger every day.  You could hardly find a weekend where Ronnie and Retha were not out dancing the night away to some good old country music or polka music at the old dance halls they loved to visit.  A huge fan of music, he enjoyed listening to music from Faron Young, to Hank Williams, Sr., Johnny Bush, and Gene Watson, but he especially loved dancing and listening to Vrazel Polka Band and the Rocky King Band.  Just last summer they had the time of their lives traveling to South Dakota on vacation with the Rocky King Band and their friends, where they spent a lot of time dancing and sight-seeing.

Ronnie also enjoyed tending to his cows, the many different horses he had through the years, and planting and bailing his hay. For many years, he was a peanut farmer.  If you were willing and had the time, Ronnie was always, always up for a good game of dominos.

He was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Wanda Adams; father-in-law, Sam Kelm; brother-in-law, Billy Kelm; sister-in-law, Barbara Padgett; and other relatives and friends who welcomed him Home.

Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 45½ years, Retha Adams, of Aquilla; daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Dennis “Bubba” Boman, of Abbott; the brightest twinkle in his eye his granddaughter, Cailea Renee Boman, of Abbott; sisters and brother, Kathy Rogers and husband, Cecil, of Aquilla, Ricky Adams and wife, Gladys, of Gatesville, and Linda Adams of Aquilla; mother-in-law, Mac Kelm, of West; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Charlie Pustejovsky, Joyce and Bobby Canales, Danny and Avalon Kelm, and Sammy and Donna Kelm; his faithful dog, Sadie; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and a host of dear friends.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
