Tommie Stembridge Obituary

Tommie Lou Stembridge, 76, of Fort Worth, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Levin Ainsworth officiating.  Burial will follow at New Woodbury Cemetery near Woodbury.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at the funeral home.

Born on July 16, 1944, in Hill County to Tom Brown and Lena Mae Upchurch, she was the youngest daughter of five children.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Silas Lee Stembridge in 1990; two brothers, Morris Earl Brown and Carl Lee Brown; and one sister, Geneva Mae Shaw.  Survivors include one brother, Connie Roy Brown of Corsicana; and a loving friend that she considered her sister, Judy Carol Watson of Weatherford.

Tommie grew up in Hill County and attended Hillsboro High School.  She later moved to the Fort Worth area and married Silas Lee Stembridge on July 22, 1977.  Following his passing she raised his two boys, Clarence Lee Stembridge and Billy Wayne Stembridge, from his previous marriage.  She was a loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren, Tammar, Kim, Dave, Ryan, Rachel, Jenna, Kayla, Christopher, and Junior.  She especially enjoyed her 12 great-grandchildren.

During her life, Tommie worked in several positions as a machinist, in electronic manufacturing, and as secretary for a car lot, which she retired from.  She was a member of Women of Moose Lodge in Crowley and held a membership of Texas Phythian Sisters of Weatherford.

Tommie was a sweet and loving aunt.  She loved to play Bingo and cook for everyone.  She never met a stranger and lit up the room with her laughter and outgoing personality.  She will truly be missed by all who loved and knew her.
