Vincent Littrell Obituary

Vincent (Sport) Grant Littrell, 59, went home to be with our Lord at his home in Milford, Texas, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was born on May 16, 1962, in McKinney, Texas, to Albert Ray Littrell and Jacquelyn Ray Leggett. He was saved and baptized at the age of 10 by The First Missionary Baptist Church of Haworth, Oklahoma. He and his parents, Ray and Macia, and siblings, Lee, and Kay, were also members of the choir at The First Assemblies of God Church in Haworth, Oklahoma. This is where he discovered his love for southern gospel music at an early age, which explains where his passion for music in general and karaoke originated.

He lived in Oklahoma up until 8th grade. He attended elementary school in Haworth and 7th grade in Idabel. In 8th grade he moved with his family back to Texas. He attended the rest of his school years in Collin County. He completed 8th grade in Anna. Then, he started high school in Princeton for 9th and 10th grade. His family made their final move to Altoga, and he completed his two remaining years at McKinney High School, where he graduated in 1980.

Following graduation, Sport started working for his Uncle Neil, who introduced him to the business of industrial supply. He worked for Neil’s company in Richardson until it closed. In 1990, he started working for Don Smith at Standard Industrial Supply as a salesman in Mesquite, Texas, when his youngest daughter, Taylor, was only two weeks old. In 1992, he moved to Barry, Texas. He continued to commute one hour one way to work every day for the next twenty-eight years to provide for his family.

Sport was a great father, hard worker, and a provider for his family. He had the biggest and most generous heart and was always ready to help anyone he could. He had a soft spot for children and animals. He had the best personality. As his daughter, Jennifer, described, “always making his presence known when he walked into a room.” He was quick-witted, funny, and always a good time. He was always looking to get a rise out of someone, especially his kids. He took every opportunity to play basketball and beat his son, Ryan, at a game of “PIG”. He nicknamed Ryan the “G-man”. He was the best storyteller and loved sharing memories from his childhood of time spent with his papa on his farm in Anna. He was an amazing singer and loved his karaoke. He had the full set up in his dining room. A lot of his kid’s childhood memories include karaoke at Poppa’s (his dad) house singing on the front porch. He had a passion for classic country music. Some of his favorites were George Jones, Vern Gosdin, Johnny Paycheck, and Hank Williams Jr. He loved listen to others sing, but he had no problem putting on a show if he had no volunteers. He would joke and say he was “in concert”. He enjoyed going to the VFW and The Legion in Corsicana on Karaoke nights. Periodically they would host a karaoke contest and he would participate. He brought home trophies for Outstanding Performance in 2007 and The House Award in 2008.
