Virginia (Cantrell) Bates

Virginia Bates passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022.  A private service will be held later with Rev. Dr. Leslie King officiating.

Virginia was born March 5, 1934, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Clinton and Lucille Cantrell. She was a graduate of Dalhart High School. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Mac Bates, on December 28, 1952.  Together they had their only child, Ginny, on March 9, 1959.  Virginia and Mac were owners of Mac Bates Insurance Agency in Dalhart, Texas until they retired. 

Virginia enjoyed travelling with her husband, Mac, and being his partner in life for almost seventy years.  She loved her family, her grand children and great-grandchildren.  Virginia loved God and continued to strengthen her faith daily through fellowship with other believers. 

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Mac Bates; her parents; and her sister, Wanda McCutcheon.  She is survived by her daughter, Ginny (Bates) Brown and son-in-law, Kenny Brown;  granddaughters, Shani Atkinson and husband Jack, Holly Radke and husband Kyle; great grandchildren, Wes Atkinson, Corbin Radke, and Laramie Atkinson; step-brother, Steve Lair; niece, Cynthia Goatley; and sister-in-law, Beth Detwiler and her family.
